At enhanceskin, we have been at the forefront of cosmetic injectables for a decade. We think it’s essential that you can feel safe and comfortable in our hands. That’s why, just like the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine, we want better regulation, especially for dermal fillers.
As members of the NZSCM we, quite rightly, must maintain high standards to keep you safe before, during and after dermal filler procedures. Any cosmetic treatment you book with enhanceskin will be with our Registered Nurse, Lacey Boyd. Lacey has been trained by and is supervised by Doctor David Orsbourn. Lacey is accredited by CANN (Cosmetic Appearance Nurse Network) who are working in association with NZSCM to maintain standards in the Cosmetic Industry. As a practice, our continued professional development is vital because it keeps you safe. We recently attended the NZSCM in Queenstown. One of the hot ‘water cooler’ conversations at that conference was around better regulation within our industry.
How you can stay safe with Dermal Filler treatments:
- If your chosen treatment provider doesn’t offer a complimentary consultation before treatment, beware! You should have an opportunity to ask questions. Your injector should also explain any associated treatment risks, no matter how minimal the chances of these occurring are. At enhanceskin, during your initial complimentary consultation, we’ll also take this opportunity to check on your personal health and circumstances. We’ll ask about any treatments you might have had before. All this will help to keep you safe.
- Ask whether your injector has hyaluronidase on hand. Hyaluronidase is a reversing agent that breaks up the hyaluronic acid present in dermal fillers. As an NZSCM registered member, we always have this product available.
- Finally, remember that experience counts. Check whether your potential injector is a member of NZSCM or accredited by CANN, and find out how long they have been practising. Ask about home care and extending the benefits of your treatment. Any competent and professional injector will want to be sure you get the results you deserve.
