It’s never too early to think about skin rejuvenation. However, solutions that might be appropriate in your twenties will vary from those that might be suitable in later years. Of course, there are no hard and fast rules, as individual needs will vary. But one of the questions we’re asked most frequently at our Nelson and Marlborough clinics is…
“What solutions should be considered for skin rejuvenation at different stages of life?”
So, in this week’s article, we’re going to answer that question as best as we can.
Skin Rejuvenation in your 20s:
In your twenties, you should be concentrating on prevention. This means adopting an excellent skincare routine based around an effective sunscreen. At enhanceskin, we are proud to offer an advanced range of skin care products, (including a variety of sunscreens dedicated to facial use) from around the world to help you bring out the best in your appearance and prevent early signs of ageing. If you’re not yet using products containing Vitamin A or Vitamin C, then that’s also great place to start. Another skin rejuvenation solution in your twenties is to incorporate medi-facials into your maintenance programme. Years of accumulated discoloured skin cells that dull your complexion are removed, while your pores are deeply cleansed of embedded dirt and impurities.
Skin Rejuvenation in your 30s:
In your thirties, keep up with the Sunscreen, Vitamin A & C! You may begin to see the development of fine line and wrinkles. A good skincare routine and medi-facials will continue to address these. But if you want to step things up a bit consider Skin Microneedling. This procedure uses needling to rejuvenate and resurface the skin. It can slow the effects of ageing and restore your skin, so you can look and feel younger. Cosmetic Botulinum is an option if you want to prevent wrinkles as they set in.
Skin Rejuvenation in your 40s:
Throughout your forties, you guessed it… Continue or start your Sunscreen and Skincare regime! You may start to lose volume in your skin. Deeper wrinkles may begin to appear. Years of sun damage may result in uneven skin tone and discolouration. IPL skin rejuvenation utilises Intense Pulsed Light for the treatment of pigmented spots, freckles, and sun damage. Fractora is another in clinic treatment that uses Fractionated Radio-Frequency to resurface and rejuvenate the skin attending to fine lines, pigmentation and blemishes, along with tightening. Perfect combined with Dermal Fillers to physically lift and sculpt areas of the face, neck and décolletage. This helps correct wrinkles, folds, scars and asymmetries. Regular use of Botox will help your facial expressions to become softer and fresher, giving a more relaxed appearance. The result is very natural. Your wrinkles will become smoother and may even disappear altogether.
Skin Rejuvenation in your 50s and beyond:
Your face and bone structure will continue to change, often leaving hollows and sagging in the face. Sometimes facial features can be asymmetrical. Additionally the neck, chest area and hands will show visible signs of ageing. Continue with your skincare, sunblock, medi-facials, fractora, IPL and injectables of Cosmetic Botulinum and fillers. We can use dermal fillers on your hands too, check out this article from the archives to find out more.
