Let’s face it we all have a few bad habits, but did you know that some can age your skin prematurely?
Here’s our list of five habits to break to combat the appearance of wrinkles and lines.
- Skipping sunscreen: I know we sound like a broken record, but this truly is the main cause of extrinsic aging (extrinsic aging is the result of environmental factors that play a role in how fast your skin ages). Sun exposure without the application of a sunscreen will result in harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays penetrating the skin and increased aging. So to look at it another way… Why not make a habit, rather than break a habit. Don’t skip it, instead be sure to apply sunscreen every day. We love Luca sunscreens.
- Smoking: You don’t need us to tell you that there is nothing good about smoking. Every time you smoke a cigarette you are breathing in carcinogens and toxins that damage your organs, the largest organ being your skin! The repetitive motion of puckering your lips will cause wrinkles around your mouth, we think the only time you should be puckering up is for a kiss!
- Drinking through a straw or a water bottle: Same rules apply…. repeatedly pursing your lips will cause wrinkling around your mouth, these lines become more pronounced as you age and your skin weakens.
- Missing your annual eye check up: Squinting can start causing crows feet and frown lines between your brows. Find out if you need glasses and more importantly wear them. Same applies to sunglasses, invest in a good pair with 100% UV protection to prevent squinting.
- Wearing make-up to bed: The dirt and pollution on your skin from the day will build up at night if left on the skin.
