Dynamic wrinkles
These form when using your muscles to make facial expressions. If you’re smiling or frowning your muscles contract and this causes your skin to wrinkle. This isn’t a problem for younger people who have lots of collagen and elastin in their skin, because they bounce right back! But as you get older, your skin loses its elasticity and the dynamic wrinkles don’t disappear as readily. They remain in the skin and eventually form static wrinkles.
The best treatment for dynamic wrinkles is Botox®. This treatment softens the fine lines caused by facial expressions, creating a smooth, rejuvenated and more youthful appearance.
Static wrinkles
Static wrinkles are the folds and lines that are permanently present, even when you’re not forming facial expressions. As the years pass, your skin loses the natural substances that provide it with structure and volume. The bones of the face shrink, as well as fat and soft tissue being lost from under the skin. This leaves hollows under the eyes, at the temples and at the corners of the mouth, pleating across the cheeks, and grooves running from the nose to the mouth. The ‘apple’ of the cheek may also sink.
These static lines, including lip lines, frown lines, forehead lines, smile lines, and crows feet can be all treated with Dermal Fillers alone; or for more stubborn wrinkles by using fillers in conjunction with Botox®. This treatment will create an even and smooth complexion.
