If you have been following our blog for a while you’ll know we’ve been debunking myths around cosmedical procedures for a while now… We wrote this article about Dermal Fillers, and this one about Botox.
Now we’re putting peels in the spotlight, sadly these treatments have had a bad rap in the past but give them a chance and you will be amazed at just how much healthier, clearer and more vibrant your skin and complexion will appear after a peel. We dislike the term Peel, because we think it adds weight to the misconceptions around the procedure, so here at enhanceskin we call them Medi-Facials.
Myth #1: Peels literally peel your skin away!
Mythbuster – This is so far from the truth! Our medi-facials utilise fruit extracts to visibly rejuvenate your skin and complexion, they work deep within the skin and encourages the appearance of new healthy cells, texture will look and feel firmer, while fine lines and wrinkles appear softer. Treatments range from gentle to medium strength. With some of the medium strength medi-facials there may be some slight swelling and pink looking skin. Your skin may start flaking a little on day 2 and may last for 7 days depending on the strength of the treatment. Some of the lighter medi-facials give little or no flaking at all.
Myth #2: The treatment hurts.
Mythbuster – Once activated the products we use may feel a bit prickly and will warm the skin. There may be some mild discomfort with the stronger treatments. Your skin may start to feel tight.
Myth #3: This treatment can be performed at home with over the counter products.
Mythbuster – Not all peels (medi-facials) are created equal… With over the counter treatments you are unlikely to get the results you would get from a professional treatment. Superior to ordinary facials and other products that may be available for purchase, the medi-facials we offer, provide clinical strength, which are results orientated, corrective treatments. The difference is evident in the truly visible results and long-term durability. A consultation is required to ensure your suitability for a medi-facial and also to assess your home care regime. Your skin needs prepping for the best results post peel. (Both retinol and sunscreen use is required).
This is the perfect time of year to book a Medi-Facial and prepare your skin for the change in season. Contact us and arrange your consultation with Lacey our resident Registered Nurse.
